From learning complex engineering terms to building value-driven campaigns — a marketer’s perspective on career growth.
When I joined Vayavya Labs as a Digital Marketing Executive, I was excited, but I was equally nervous.
I had worked in non-technical companies before, so stepping into a deep-tech organization felt like entering an entirely different world. Suddenly, I was hearing terms like Digital Twins, ADAS, Automotive Cybersecurity, Virtual ECUs, and Device Drivers. At first, I couldn’t even pronounce some of them confidently, let alone explain them. Yet my role wasn’t just to create marketing content; I was expected to truly understand the technology before talking about it.
Naturally, in the beginning, I felt like an outsider. These weren’t concepts you could grasp at first glance.
But something happened that completely changed my experience.
Instead of expecting me to “figure it out”, the engineers became my teachers. From senior technical leaders to junior engineers, everyone was willing to explain complex concepts with patience and simplicity. No question was considered too basic or too “dumb”. In fact, asking questions was encouraged. People would keep explaining until I understood, because the goal wasn’t just to finish a task- it was to help each other grow.
Looking back, that’s what helped me transform. I went from being someone who struggled to understand technical terminology to someone who could confidently create campaigns, write blogs, launch product announcements, and tell stories about technologies solving real engineering challenges. That journey wouldn’t have been possible without mentors who invested their time in helping me learn.
One thing that stood out from the beginning was how seriously ideas are taken here. As marketers, we’re constantly expected to think differently and come up with fresh campaigns. What I appreciated most was that my ideas were never dismissed simply because I wasn’t from a technical background. Sometimes they were accepted. Sometimes they weren’t. But every discussion came with reasoning, feedback, and learning. That made every brainstorming session meaningful.
The work itself also felt different. We don’t create content just to fill a content calendar or maintain a posting streak. Every blog, campaign, webinar, video, or social post starts with a simple question: Does this solve a real customer problem? That mindset changed the way I think about marketing. It became less about promoting products and more about communicating value.
Another thing I cherish is the culture at Vayavya. Despite working alongside some incredibly talented engineers, I never felt like an outsider. The hierarchy is remarkably flat, making senior leaders approachable and conversations open. Whether you’ve just joined or have years of experience, your voice matters. Everyone is treated with respect, and that creates an environment where people feel comfortable contributing, learning, and taking ownership.
The sense of belonging extends beyond daily work as well. It’s reflected in the enthusiasm people bring to festivals, team outings, social initiatives, Fun Fridays, birthday celebrations, and knowledge-sharing sessions. What surprised me most was how willingly people from technical teams participated in marketing initiatives — writing blogs, recording videos, sharing insights, or explaining complex topics so that the marketing team could communicate them better. It never felt like “marketing’s job” or “engineering’s job.” It felt like all of us were building something together.
The flexibility and trust here deserve a mention too. Instead of micromanagement, there’s ownership. You’re trusted to manage your work, take responsibility for your decisions, and deliver meaningful outcomes. That freedom not only improves work-life balance but also helps you grow into a more confident professional.
When I look back today, I hardly recognize the person who walked into the company feeling overwhelmed by unfamiliar technology. Today, I can confidently discuss complex engineering concepts, build campaigns around advanced technologies, and collaborate with experts across domains. More importantly, I’ve grown—not just as a marketer, but as a professional who isn’t afraid to step outside my comfort zone.
Many companies offer attractive perks and impressive offices. Those things are nice to have. But what truly stays with you is the opportunity to learn, the people who help you grow, the trust you’re given, and the chance to contribute to solving some of the toughest engineering challenges. Those experiences are far more valuable, and they’re much harder to find.
If you’re someone who enjoys learning, loves taking ownership, and wants to work with people who are passionate about solving complex problems—whether you’re from a technical or non-technical background—you’ll find more than just a job here. You’ll find an environment that challenges you, supports you, and helps you become a better version of yourself.
Sometimes, the biggest career growth doesn’t come from joining the company you already understand. It comes from joining the one that teaches you something new every single day.
