RK Patil, CEO, Co-Founder 

RK has over 20 years of industry experience in the domain of Telecom, Embedded software and Semiconductors. For the last eight years he was co-founder of two starts ups in the technology domain where he has held various positions in engineering, marketing and management. At Vayavya RK is responsible for overall management and strategic decisions related to engineering and business activities.

Prior to Vayavya he was part of world wide Video Marketing team at Genesis Microchip. He was responsible for finding alternate and adjacent markets for the main line ATV and DTV ASIC solutions of the company and driving the marketing efforts to monetise the same. Prior to Genesis he co-founded Smart Yantra Technologies in 2001 which was acquired by NASDAQ listed Semiconductor firm Genesis Microchip Inc. in 2004. At Smart Yantra he was responsible for setting up Sales and Marketing of its products and services. At Smart Yantra he built the marketing strategies for IP and IP-enabled services for consumer electronics and streaming applications. He was instrumental in establishing the sales and marketing channels and partnerships in USA, Taiwan and Japan.

Prior to Smart Yantra he had a stint with Indian Air Force, Accord Software and Systems and HP in leading different engineering activities/groups. RK holds a degree in computer science from Karnataka University and diploma in Aeronautical engineering. He is also a qualified ISO 9000 series quality initiatives implementor.

Venugopal Kolathur, Chief Architect, Co-Founder

Venugopal Kolathur is responsible for product technology road-map and product design strategies. He has over 32 years of industry and academic experience. He finished his graduation and subsequently masters from REC Calicut in Instrumentation & Control Systems and served as professor in Gogte Institute of Technology (Karnataka University) for 13 years (1983-96). He has been in industry (1996-2005)working with companies like Accord Software and Systems, HP, Ishoni Networks and Orbit Software Inc. He has led various engineering teams in multiple domains ranging from embedded systems, operating systems, networking. Venu has contributed technology articles to HPs technical publications. He is an avid reader and loves teaching Advanced C and Unix/Linux concepts.

Uma Bondada, VP Engineering, Co-Founder

Uma Bondada is responsible for product engineering and delivery. She began her career as lecturer (1990-94) at Dayanand Sagar College of Engineering prior to moving to software industry. For last 12 years (1994-2005) and has worked in different engineering capacities at XLnet Software, HP, Orbit Software Inc. Uma’s expertise’s are in the domain of language parser, terminal firmware and mission critical back-up software. Uma holds a graduate degree in Electronics and Telecommunication from Bangalore University. Uma is an excellent team coordinator and specializes in conceptualizing and implementation of software product quality test suites.

Sandeep Pendharkar, VP & Head Product Engineering

Sandeep Pendharkar, Associate VP & Head Product Engineering. He overlooks product development activities at Vayavya. He leads the ESL verification product development. Sandeep has over 17 years of industry experience mostly focused in the domain of compilers and verification tools. Prior to Vayavya Labs he led the Vera & VCS R&D team in Synopsys in the domain of Functional Coverage and was responsible for several technology advances. He started his career with Tata Infotech (now part of TCS) in the year 1995 working in the area of program transformation tools and optimizing compilers for DSP processors. He filed 1 US Patent for his work in optimizing compilers. Sandeep holds Bachelors degree in Computer Science from Mumbai University.

Deepak Samaga, VP Business Development

He handles business development and customer relations with a focus on new & emerging technology markets. Deepak has over 20 years industry experience spanning across software development, business development, customer relationship management, and product management. Prior to Vayavya Labs he was part of the e-Services business unit at HCL Technologies, helping set-up & run an UX practice, engaging in customer interactions for various digital transformation programmes. He started his career with Advanced Micronic Devices in 1992, as a sales executive, followed by decade long stint of entrepreneurship. Deepak holds a Bachelors degree in Computer Science from Karnatak University.

Karthick Gururaj, Principal Architect

Karthcik is responsible for product development and requirements in Vayavya Labs. He has over nine years of experience in virtual prototyping technologies and their application. He has led several standardization activities in his previous organization (NXP Semiconductors), which have since been made public as CoReUse standard from IP Extreme (http://www.ip-extreme.com/coreuse.shtml). He represented NXP in standardization body in SystemC (Transaction Level Modeling (TLM) working group) and contributed to TLM2.0 standard. Some of his pioneering work in Virtual Prototyping that he worked while at NXP have been shown on real products to accelerate time-to-market and to enable early system architecture exploration over multiple Business Units of Home, Mobile (now part of ST-Ericsson), Identification and Car entertainment. Karthick hold bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering from IIT-Khargpur.

Prasanna Vijapur, Director Engineering

Prasanna has rich experience in managing customer engagements & product delivery. He has more than 16 years of industry experience in coordinating large multi-site & multi-team projects. He closely interacts with the customers in scoping and defining the engagement models to ensure we meet the customer expectations. Prior to joining Vayavya Labs, Prasanna has worked with Wipro Technologies where he has successfully delivered projects for various customers like Sun Microsystems, HP, Cisco, Teradata, GSK, Shell, etc. Prasanna has expertise in Process definition,SWOT analysis, implementation, monitoring & tracking. Prasanna also holds project management certification from PMI in addition to a bachelors degree in engineering from Karnataka University.

Parag Naik

Parag is a serial entrepreneur with over 22 years of industry experience, out of which 14 years have been in high technology startups. At Saankhya he has been the CEO since April 2014. He was the CTO and VP Marketing between 2007-2014 contributing to the product roadmaps and designing Saankhya SDR architecture. He is also a member of the Board of Directors.

Prior to Saankhya he co-founded Smart Yantra technologies one of India’s first Video IP streaming companies in 2001 and Vayavya Labs India’s first Electronic Design Automation Company in 2006. Both companies are high technology product companies. Smart Yantra was acquired by Genesis Microchip in 2004. He has also held various techno-managerial at Ishoni Networks and Philips.

He is a named inventor on 17 US and India patents in the areas of CPU/SDR architecture, Digital Communications, Signal Processing and Hardware-Software Co-design/ Code generators. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Engineering from Karnatak University, India.

Muthukrishanan Chinnasamy (Muthu)

Muthu has over 21 years of Semiconductor, VLSI design industry experience starting with Texas Instruments India, Sage Design Systems India, Genesis Microchip India and KarMic, India. Muthu serves on the board of Vayavya Labs to define it’s strategies and creating business networks.

Currently he is the senior executive of Bangalore based Sonic Chips India Pvt Ltd and Coimbatore based TanMic Pvt Ltd. Both these companies are engaged in building Analog VLSI design IC products for Audio Systems to build world class products for Indian and worldwide Consumer Electronic(CE) markets. At TI India, Muthu had pioneered the Digital Signal Processing (DSP) product revolution through custom DSP (cDSP) product development efforts for many customers by combining standard ASIC design flows and full custom VLSI design flows and product development efforts. This paved the way for huge business options for TI’s standard DSP chips. Prior to that, he initiated all TI-India ASIC activities in India after having a 5 year stint in their Design Automation Division. He left TI to start Sage Design Systems India along with it’s founders and promoters in US(Sage, Inc) to build world’s first LCD controller IC products, which finally lead to Sage, Inc listing in NASDAQ with an eventual MKT CAP valuation of over 350M$(Nov 11 1999). In 2000-01, US based Genesis Microchip acquired Sage world wide operations. Muthu headed all of the Indian operation and groups of the combined company (MKT CAP of close to 1B$) and grew the team in all areas – R&D, ENGINEERING, MARKETING, FIELD SUPPORT and even SALES. His team had put more than 20 IC products in customer hands and products, some of them had yielded individual lifetime revenue of 150-200M$. In Genesis, Muthu also played a major role in acquiring Smart Yantra Technologies and integrating it inside. He left Genesis and helped many startup companies like Saankhya Labs, Vayavya Labs, KarMic, TanMic and recently Sonic Chips India Pvt Ltd, all of them either in Semiconductor or related areas. In TI, Muthu was elected to its Technical council as Member Group Technical Staff (MGTS), an elected and only a proven few are given this honor. He has co-authored many papers in VLSI domains and is a co-inventor of 1 US patent in CMOS Gate Array technology. Muthu has a bachelors engineering degree in Electronics and Communication from Madras University(’85) and a Masters degree in Computer Science and Engineering from Anna University(’87).

James Hogan

Jim is currently the managing partner of Vista Ventures, LLC. Jim has worked in the semiconductor design and manufacturing industry for more than 40 years gaining experience as a senior executive and board director in electronic design automation, intellectual property, semiconductor equipment, material science and IT companies.

Jim was a general partner at Telos Venture Partners and senior vice president of business development at Artisan Components Inc., now part of ARM Holdings PLC. He held executive engineering, marketing and operational management positions at Cadence Design Systems, Inc., National Semiconductor Corporation and Phillips Semiconductor.

Jim holds a B.A. degree in mathematics, a B.S. degree in computer science and an M.B.A. all from San Jose State University. He serves on several private companies’ board of directors. Additionally Jim serves as a strategic advisor to several private and public companies.

Vivek Raghavan

Vivek is an active angel investor and a serial entrepreneur starting Performance Signal Integrity (PSI) in 1993 which eventually became part of Synopsys through a series of acquisitions. Vivek then founded Mojave Inc. in 2002 which was acquired by Magma Design Automation for upto $140 million returning more than 10x to investors within a period of two years.

Vivek has lead the development of three major products in the Electronic Design Automation (EDA) space each of the which has achieved #1 or #2 market share in their space and exceeded a total of $500 million in sales. Vivek is currently a volunteer at AADHAR ( UIDAI, Unique Identification Authority of India) heading the Biometrics. Vivek received his B.Tech in Electrical Engineering from IIT Delhi in 1989 and Ph.D in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University in 1993.

Dr. Pradip K. Dutta

Dr. Pradip K. Dutta is a Corporate Vice President of Synopsys Inc. and the Managing Director of its wholly owned subsidiary, Synopsys (India) Private Limited, a world leader in Electronic Design Automation (EDA) software. After repatriating from the US in 2000, Dr. Dutta has been heading the India operations of Synopsys overseeing the growth from a little over 50 employees to more than 1400 highly skilled employee base spread across Bangalore, Hyderabad, Mumbai, New Delhi and Noida. His key focus areas include research and development activity in various aspects of EDA tool development, strengthening industry-academia-government interaction and building strong customer relationships.

Prior to joining Synopsys, Dr. Dutta had spent twelve years with Delco Electronics Corporation, a General Motors subsidiary, in the field of automotive electronics and held a variety of positions in engineering and management, both in the US and in the Asia-Pacific region. He had started the India operations of Delco Electronics in New Delhi in the mid 90’s, which later became part of Delphi Automotive Systems.

Dr. Dutta has earned his B.Tech in Electronics Engineering from IIT Kharagpur followed by MS and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Maryland, College Park under a US Government Fellowship from the National Institute of Standards and Technology. He has been a past Chairman of India Semiconductor Association (ISA) and serves on the Executive Council of several leading industry bodies including American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM – Bangalore), Indo-American Chamber of Commerce (IACC-Karnataka), Bangalore Forum for Information Technology (BFIT). He also sits on the advisory boards of the Govt. of West Bengal (Ministry of IT), IIT Kharagpur (Advanced VLSI Consortium) and the International Institute of Information Technology – Bangalore (Academic Program). Dr. Dutta is a Charter Member of TiE and has been conferred the Distinguished Alumnus award by IIT Kharagpur in 2011.

Sharad Sharma

Sharad Sharma is an EIR with Canaan Partners and an active angel investor. Most recently he was the CEO of Yahoo! India R&D. He has over 23+ years of experience in the internet, enterprise software and wireless infrastructure sectors. Prior to joining Yahoo!, he was involved in buyout activities focused on taking mid-sized software product companies private. Previously, he was the India General Manager and corporate Vice President of Product Operations at Symantec (formerly VERITAS) and was responsible for the turnaround of the VERITAS operations in India. He was earlier a co-founder and CEO of Teltier Technologies, a New Jersey based wireless infrastructure start-up that became the leader in the Presence and Availability Management space and is now part of Cisco. Sharad has managed product development teams at Lucent Technologies both in US and in India. He also setup AT&T’s, and later Lucent’s, R&D operations in India in mid-90s.
